What is Concurrent Enrollment?

Alexandria Technical & Community College’s Concurrent Enrollment Program provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit by taking rigorous, college-level courses in their high school taught by high school credentialed teachers. Equally important, Concurrent Enrollment students are held to the same academic standards as ATCC’s traditional on-campus and online students.

Student Benefits
  • Earn transferable college credit with high school peers.
  • Reduce the overall cost of a college education.
  • Develop college-level learning skills.
  • Take rigorous courses and explore content at a deeper level.
  • Receive ATCC credit immediately after successfully completing the course. Unlike AP, there is no need to test out of the course.
  • Get a jump start on post-secondary studies allowing for greater flexibility in college.
  • Access services offered to ATCC students, such as college email, learning resources, and campus facilities.

Accreditation

Alexandria Technical & Community College’s Concurrent Enrollment program is accredited by the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP), the sole accrediting body of concurrent enrollment partnerships. Accreditation confirms that ATCC’s Concurrent Enrollment program met “rigorous national standards in the areas of curriculum, faculty, students, assessment, and program evaluation.”
