The Testing Center offers the following exams:
ACCUPLACER: ACCUPLACER is a computerized, un-timed placement test used to assist in college academic advising and proper course selection to help students be successful in their college education.
College Level Examination Program (CLEP): CLEP is a way for a student to earn credit for what the student already knows. CLEP tests offer individuals the chance to demonstrate knowledge that they have gained independently and earn credit. Find Alexandria Technical & Community College's CLEP Credit Equivalencies Here.
Credit for Prior Learning (CPL): CPL may be awarded to students who can demonstrate competency in an academic area. Competency can be demonstrated through non-credit experiences and may include work experiences, non-credit education, performance on nationally and locally developed examinations both written and skills demonstration, and portfolio review.
DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Test): The DSST program gives students the opportunity to receive college credit for learning acquired outside the traditional college classroom. Use DSSTs to help earn a degree, get a promotion, or simply demonstrate college-level knowledge in subjects relevant to a career. Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS): MOS certification can help students broaden their employment opportunities by displaying advanced skills in a competitive job market.
ITEC 1430, 1440 & 1445 Test Outs: Accepted ATCC students may attempt to test out and earn credit for Intro to Computer, Beginning Personal Computers I, or Personal Computer Skills at ATCC.
The following test may also be used to earn college credit but are not administered at ATCC.
Advanced Placement (AP): AP allows high school students to complete designated college level courses in high school and earn college credit by demonstrating a specified level of performance on AP exams. International Baccalaureate: The International Baccalaureate (IB) is an internationally recognized program through which secondary students complete a comprehensive curriculum of rigorous study and demonstrate performance on culminating examinations. The examination for the IB diploma covers six subjects, three or four of which must be at the higher level, with others at the standard level. Students may present a full IB diploma or a certificate recognizing specific subject examinations and be considered for credit based on the examination level and result.
The IB Diploma Program is a course of study for students up to the age of 19 that leads to examinations in various subjects. ATCC will grant credit for scores of 4 or higher on individual IB examinations or successful completion of the IB program. Find Alexandria Technical & Community College's IB Equivalencies Here.
