There is a growing need for qualified diesel technicians all across the country.
Graduates find employment in heavy equipment repair shops, over-the-road truck
stops, and agricultural equipment shops. Many graduates move into management
positions or start their own businesses after gaining work experience. Starting
pay varies with the geographic area and type of work that is done.
Employment
The Diesel Mechanics program has an excellent placement record for all graduates
who have been available for work. Job placement records show graduates obtain
jobs in construction equipment, truck and agricultural equipment repair. Diesel
powered equipment and vehicles are used in all parts of the world, so graduates
of this program can find employment almost anywhere they want to work and live.
A mechanic’s wage depends on the type of equipment being maintained, the
location of the business, and how capable s/he is.
