Graduates from the Accounting program are prepared for employment in a variety of areas within the accounting field, such as income tax, manufacturing accounting, auditing, governmental accounting, and public accounting.
Employment
Based on the most recent Occupational Employment Report of the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there will be approximately 600,000 job openings between 2006 and 2016 for bookkeepers, accountants and auditing clerks. These positions generally require a two-year degree, and currently have a median annual wage of $30,560.
In a competitive business environment, current and accurate information is a must for any organization to survive. Also, new reporting requirements increase the demand for competent accountants.
Accounting graduates can choose employment in a variety of areas. Earnings are influenced by the individual’s choice between private, public or governmental accounting and the nature of the duties assigned.
