Program Overview
Students will develop secure, robust, and highly scalable web applications that include back-end database design and easy-to-use front-end interfaces using HTML, Dreamweaver, JavaScript, ColdFusion, and other technologies. Focus on web design will also occur in Photoshop. Students will learn how to administer a web server and will learn how to partition a hard drive and install Microsoft Server/IIS and Linux/Apache on each partition.
Hands-on learning is emphasized. Students gain experience in web development using the current versions of Adobe Design Premium software. A laptop computer, leased from the college, is required.
Qualifications
Persons interested in pursuing the Web Development and Management Certificate program are often those who enjoy spending time online building Facebook and MySpace pages, playing XBox Live and other online games, and working with digital photography and design tools like Photoshop.
Courses are offered in the late afternoon or online to allow high school students, current college students and local working adults the ability to earn this certificate while engaging in other commitments. For those interested in earning a Two-Year AAS degree in this area, this certificate may be applied toward the Business Web Strategist program offered by Alexandria Technical College.
