Interior Design Students in the Top Ten
Alexandria Technical College Interior Design students take two spots among the top ten finalists in a national competition. Leah Henley, of Clear Lake, received $2,000 for her fifth place award, and Emily Lutgen, of St. Nicholas, received $1,000 for an honorable mention.
General Electric sponsors a kitchen competition for students enrolled in a National Kitchen and Bath accredited program. This year more than 500 students from 33 colleges participated in this challenge. The test challenges the students' ability to think and apply their knowledge of kitchen design by completing a kitchen featuring GE appliances. The challenge was to produce a floor plan with specifications, a design statement, and one additional drawing of a perspective or elevation. The students had to complete all of the requirements within a three hour time limit.
