
Program Overview
This program is designed for people already working within the field. People who are interested in pursuing direct service as a career, and for those who want to learn more about supports for people with disabilities. This educational experience provides students with practical knowledge and experiences in the community supports field. The eight core courses are online, provided by a partner college. Characteristics of self-motivation and persistence are especially important for taking online courses.
Qualifications
The Human Services Practitioner program is designed to educate direct service workers to provide community based supports to people with disabilities. It offers a two year AAS degree along with a diploma program (Direct Service Professional) option. The program is a collaboration of Alexandria Technical College offering general education courses and eight program courses offered online by South Central Technical College, Mankato. The program can be completed entirely online or in a blended format. Blended format would include both online and on campus courses.
