
Program Overview
The Marine and Small Engine program is 72 credits in length and prepares students for repair of lawn and garden equipment, snowmobiles, outboards, inboard/outboards and motorcycles. The first and second years are both two semesters in length with an internship at the end of first year. College days are six hours with an average of two hours in the classroom and four hours in the shop. Classroom time is spent on theory, proper procedures and safety with these practices and then developed in the shop.
Qualifications
Prospective students would find high school courses in shop, mathematics or mechanics beneficial but not required. Students make many precision measurements, including those using the metric system. Students should have good manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude and be in good physical condition.
