The industry’s average salary for experienced drivers is $40,000 per year, while first-year drivers can expect to earn $25,000 - $30,000. Truck driving schools currently cannot educate enough drivers per year to supply the industry’s needs.

Wages and benefits in the trucking industry vary according to location and responsibility; however, the national average for an experienced over the road driver is from $38,000 to $45,000 per year.
