Nursing

Program Overview

The Associate Degree in Nursing program prepares qualified LPN's to be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. To be eligible for the program, you must already be a Licensed Practical Nurse with at least a 2.75 GPA for your Practical Nursing training. Potential applicants must attend an informational meeting prior to being accepted into the major.

The program is separated into two phases. During phase one, you complete a college application for admittance into the Associate Degree in Nursing major. Upon acceptance, you are eligible to complete the required 32 credits of general education coursework. After completion of the general education courses, you may declare your eligibility for consideration for phase two of the program to make you eligible for the remaining core nursing classes. Eligibility for consideration for phase two includes completion of all 32 credits of the required general education courses with a grade of "B" or better in all five required science classes. If you have completed these requirements at another college, you may apply to ATCC and declare eligibility for consideration for phase two. Students are ranked based on several criteria for available seats in the core nursing classes.

Note: Completing phase one does not guarantee a seat in the core nursing courses in the first year of eligibility.
