Administrative Office Management
Supervising an office environment requires a wide range of professional skills. From gaining computer, phone, and organization skills to learning professional customer service and supervising personnel, the Administrative Office Management program prepares you for employment and advancement in office environments.
Alexandria Technical & Community College's Administrative Office Management program is specifically designed for students who want to advance to an office supervisory position. Managing and training other office support staff and coordinating business projects are highly valued skills in the job market.
The Administrative Office Management program's first two semesters are identical to the Administrative Assistant curriculum. Therefore, a student may either declare Administrative Office Management as a major upon enrollment at ATCC or transfer in after completing an Administrative Assistant Diploma.
The Administrative Office Management program's third and fourth semesters include coursework in administrative accounting, advanced computer word and data processing, graphics and presentation software, employee supervision and management, and written and oral communication. Administrative Office Management students also pass user certification tests that verify computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and desktop information management. After completion of this coursework, students complete their program with an internship.
