Surgical Technology

This program trains surgical technologists to be part of the medical teams delivering care for patients before, during and after surgery. Graduates are prepared to assist surgeons and surgical team members throughout the surgical process.

Students will learn proper procedures for patient safety, asepsis, and infection control. The Surgical Technologist Student will gain proficiency in the use of surgical equipment, supplies, and instruments in surgical procedures.

Through a partnership with M State, students can complete the Surgical Technology degree on the Alexandria College campus. For students enrolled in the Alexandria cohort, Surgical Technology coursework will be completed online or in Alexandria. Labs will be completed at ATCC, and clinical practice will be held regionally and/or at Alomere Health in Alexandria.

Admission to the Surgical Technology program is selective and based on grades in prerequisite courses. To review admissions information, including pre-requisites, please visit Surgical Technology Admissions Requirements | Minnesota State Community & Technical & College
