Nursing Simulation Center at Alexandria Technical & Community College Completed

Alexandria, MN – September 2019 – Alexandria Technical & Community College (ATCC) put the final touches on its state of the art Nursing Simulation Learning Center in August 2019. The Center provides opportunities for students in the college's Practical Nursing and Nursing programs to complete their clinicals in a safe and controlled environment. "The Simulation Learning Center is remarkable on many fronts," said ATCC dean of nursing and health, Merilee Retzloff. "The environment and the technology are top notch in the industry, but the support we received to make this possible really has been outstanding. It simply wouldn't have happened without the generosity of donors and the hard work of a great team." The Nursing Simulation Learning Center was made possible through financial support of the Otto Bremer Trust and Bethany on the Lake, in addition to generous contributions of individual donors.

The week of September 16-20 is the National Healthcare Simulation week, and ATCC is honored to be represented on as a simulation site with the Society for Simulation in Healthcare.

The college's Practical Nursing and Nursing programs have met some noteworthy milestones in 2019, with the completion of the Simulation Learning Center and achieving accreditation by the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation. Both of these projects required substantial focus and resources, but they also both provide students significant opportunities. Retzloff noted, "they both required a lot of work, but they were worth the investment. We're providing excellent education to meet healthcare industry needs."
