Updated COVID-19 Quarantine Guidelines

Jan 14, 2022 | 9:24 AM

COVID-19 quarantine rules have been updated for Minnesota State institutions, including Alexandria Technical & Community College, as outlined by the CDC.  This protocol reduces the number of days a positive individual, or an individual that has been in close contact to a positive person, to return after five days IF:

  • the individual is fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and their symptom are improving and
  • the individual commits to wearing a tight-fitting mask (covering both the mouth and the nose) at all times while on campus for ten days from the date of their positive Covid test or the date of their close contact exposure.
    • Individuals that are unable to wear a tight-fitting mask due to medical, psychological or religious reasons will not be able to return after five days and must quarantine for the full ten days.

Individuals will be on the honor system to follow these rules.  Understand that these individuals are still infectious after day five, but not as infectious as they were on days one through five.  This makes wearing masks and maintaining social distancing even more critical at this time.

Individuals affected by this change will be receiving communications about the updates and how it affects them. Thank you for your patience as we navigate this change, and for your dedication to keeping campus as safe and healthy as possible.
