Alexandria College Students Find Success at State DECA Competition

Fourteen Alexandria Technical and Community College students competed virtually in the 2022 State DECA competition on February 17-18, 2022. Each student participated in 2 events.

Twenty-nine times Alexandria College students were top 8 finalists in their events. Of those, three individuals earned first place awards, three individuals earned second place, and seven individuals and one team earned third place.

Sebastian Ahumada, Madeline Friedman, and Megan Koehler were awarded Outstanding Student Service Awards.

Entrepreneurship – Starting your Business 

  • 1st place – Peyton Schonberg (BUSM) 

Entrepreneurship Operations 

  • 2nd Place – Sebastian Ahumada (ACCT) 
  • 3rd Place – Dalton Herzog (BUSM) 

Event Planning 

  • 3rd Place – Catherine Turbes (MKSM/BUSM) and Miranda Chamberlain (BUSM) 

Fashion Merchandising & Marketing  

  • 1st Place – Oliva Maday (FASH/ BUSM) 
  • 2nd Place - Madeline Friedman (FASH) 
  • Finalists  - Sarenity Klein (FASH) 

Financial Accounting 

  • 1st Place – Zachariah Leonard (ACCT) 

Human Resource Management 

  • 3rd Place – Dalton Herzog (BUSM) 
  • Finalists – Hannah Lieser (BUSM), Roberto Palermo (BUSM), and Thomas VanAcker (TPBU) 

Marketing Management

Competitive events supported by DECA propel winners from local to state levels and finally to the international level. The success, confidence, recognition and awards that students earn in this program are crucial to their success in business careers.
