The following is an excerpt from the article, Soccer: Alexandria College completes "gratifying" seasons by Sam Stuve, Echo Press
Alexandria College had its first season of play on the varsity level for the men’s soccer program this year and they were co-head coached by Tom Roos and William “Chato” Alvarado. The women's team played some conference opponents but played the season as a club team.
Both coaches are feeling great after this season.
“To build a program from the ground floor with nothing – no names or faces of players, no equipment or uniforms, and to have it slowly take shape and then to complete a season was very gratifying,” Roos said.
The Alexandria men’s team finished with a 4-8 record playing at the NJCAA Division III level and placed third in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.
Riverland Community College ended Alexandria’s season with a 4-3 win on Oct. 20 in the Region XIII semifinals.
The Legends women's team played against some MCAC teams this year and is listed as having a win that came against Anoka-Ramsey on Sept. 7, 4-1. The hope is to have a full varsity team next season.
