Each year, the Alexandria Technical & Community College Foundation awards several Excellence in Innovation Grants to campus projects focused on student outreach, keeping pace with industry technology, and better serving Alexandria College students.

A group comprised mostly of Foundation board members review applications. Any college employee or department can apply for a grant. More than $100,000 in grants have been awarded since 2015.

The ATCC Foundation received a record $21,500 in requests for the 2023 Excellence in Innovation Grants. The Foundation funds $10,000 annually. Funded projects include:

  • Communication Design: The grant allows for an update in the production workspace and equipment to provide students with a real-world production area. The space will encourage student collaboration and provide a safe workspace that meets the needs of course offerings.
  • Diesel Mechanics: The funds allow for an upgrade to an existing scanner. The update will give students access to the latest industry technology. The scanner communicates with construction, truck, and ag equipment and will also be used to diagnose repairs on truck driving equipment.
  • Early Childhood Education: The grant funds will purchase high-quality children’s books for ECED students and the children at our campus Head Start location. Students will share the experience of reading books with children and building their professional library.
  • Nursing: An updated Laerdal simulation device will be purchased to extend the life of current mannequins and provide efficiency in the nursing simulation lab, allowing a better experience for students. The new device will also allow for the addition of two oximeter devices that will provide realism to training scenarios.

Thank you to the Alexandria Technical & Community College Foundation for their ongoing support of students!
