The students raised the money through their annual Change Wars. During a two and a half week period, each class in Carpentry, Diesel Mechanics, Machine Tool Technology, Mechanical Drafting, Design and Engineering, Mechatronics, Powersports, and Welding had a box in their respective area and the goal to fill it with the most amount of coins.
The class that collected the most money per student won caramel rolls and had their program name engraved on the traveling trophy plaque. This year’s winner of the Change Wars with the most coins collected was the Powersports II class.
After the competition was complete, the money was collected and presented as a check during the Jingle Bells Telethon by SkillsUSA local officers and Alexandria College students Andrew Johnson, Kaya Chevere, and Elijah Haakenson.
The Jingle Bells Telethon raises money to help struggling families over the holiday season.
