RegisteredNursing.org ranked Alexandria Technical and Community College one of the top Registered Nursing (RN) programs in Minnesota.

Alexandria College was named eighth best program in the state ranking ahead of the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Alexandria College was one of four technical and community colleges to place in the top ten programs in Minnesota.

To create the rankings, RegisteredNursing.org analyzed the percentage of graduates in 44 different registered nursing programs who passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).

The Alexandria College is able to maintain a high standard of academic success for its students thanks to the faculty, staff, and community support.

The following is an excerpt from the article, Alexandria College's nursing program ranks 8th best in Minnesota, by Al Edenloff, Echo Press.

Community partners play a critical role in student success, according to nursing instructors at the college. Some key partners to the nursing program are Alomere Health, Bethany on the Lake, Glacial Ridge and Knute Nelson.

“Our students get so much support and patient care time at our clinical sites and it shows,” said Micala Danielson, nursing instructor. “We do a lot with the students but having strong community support really helps.”

In addition to clinical partnerships, many healthcare industry partners sponsor student scholarships. The Alexandria College Foundation currently has more than $13,000 in annual scholarships specifically for Practical Nursing and Associate Degree Nursing students, donated by industry partners and individuals in the community, plus state-sponsored Workforce Development scholarships with matching funds provided by community partners like Knute Nelson.

The ATCC Foundation awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships in 2023-2024.

In a 2023 survey, nursing students praised the program and the level of support received at ATCC:

  • “The college has a high level of student support services and resources.”
  • “Student support was amazing. Rhonda [Berger] and Kaye [Madigan] are amazing at what they do and were so helpful and encouraging.”
  • “I am proud to have been part of this program. I feel that it has challenged me to be a better person and a better nurse.”
