For over 30 years, Zimmerman has been an advisor and instructor for the carpentry program at Alexandria College. He has served on the SkillsUSA Minnesota Executive Board and the National SkillsUSA Carpentry Education Team. Zimmerman also established Alexandria College as the host site for the state carpentry competition for many years.
