One of our own makes headlines with creativity, heart, and determination

When most college students dream about a Florida vacation, they imagine lounging on the beach with money saved from a summer job. But Myles Frueh isn't most students—and his recent adventure proves it.

The Challenge: Can You DoorDash Your Way to Florida?

This past summer, our remarkable Business Management student embarked on an extraordinary journey that would test his entrepreneurial spirit, endurance, and dedication to a cause close to his heart. Myles, 19, decided to drive from his hometown of Alexandria to Panama City Beach, Florida—over 2,500 miles—with one unique twist: every dollar for gas, food, and shelter had to be earned through DoorDash deliveries along the way.

"It was just this wild thought that flew right into my head," Myles explained in an episode of his podcast, The Unspecified Show. "You kind of caught it and you're like, wait, could this work?"

The answer? A resounding yes—though not without challenges.

The Journey: Grit, Pop-Tarts, and Perseverance

Day one set the tone when deliveries in St. Cloud came slower than expected, landing Myles at a Motel 6 in Madison, Wisconsin. Some days brought comfortable Airbnbs, while others meant making do with a single Pop-Tart from Dollar Tree. But Myles pressed on, mapping routes and hustling deliveries in unfamiliar cities, driven by something far greater than wanderlust.

On day seven, he finally reached those stunning white sand beaches—a first-time view of Florida he'd earned every mile of.

The 'Why' Behind the Wheels: Honoring Mom's Battle

What makes Myles truly exceptional isn't just his adventurous spirit or entrepreneurial creativity—it's his heart. This entire journey was designed to raise money for the American Cancer Society, celebrating his mother Mavis's ten-year survival of breast cancer.

"Mom, congratulations on being 10 years cancer free," Myles said in his video from Panama City Beach. "I love you."

As an 8-year-old, Myles stood beside his mother when she rang the survivor bell in April 2015. That experience shaped him in ways that continue to inspire his actions today.

"You never really think of 'how much do my sons and my husband think about this on a daily basis?'" Mavis reflected.

For Myles, it's every day—and he channels those thoughts into making a difference.

Double the Impact: When Good Deeds Get Even Better

Myles's determination paid off beautifully. Through his seven-day dash, he raised $1,226 for cancer research and awareness. But the story gets even better.

When Fox 9 News featured Myles's journey, DoorDash took notice. "Dashing helps millions of people reach their goals, and Myles' story is one extraordinarily inspiring example," a company spokesperson shared. "We're honored to have played a part in his journey and will be matching his donation to the American Cancer Society."

That brought Myles's total impact to over $2,400—a testament to how one person's creative idea can inspire others to join the cause.
