His motivation stems from a desire to honor his former Fargo Post 2 teammate, Boden Meier, who has been hospitalized since May following a golf cart accident.
“Something was just telling me after this Post 2 season that I wasn’t going to be done,” Ovsak said.
Ovsak’s commitment to the sport is deeply personal. “I want to play for Bo,” he said. “He might not ever get a chance to do this again. It pushes me a lot knowing that I’m doing this for Bo and others out there.”
ATCC head coach Brandon Hill praised Ovsak’s impact on the team: “(He’s) a big contributor for us in a lot of different ways,” Hill said. “Finds ways to get on base, take extra bases, brings athleticism and brings good defense.”
Ovsak’s athletic resume includes two all-state football selections and state championships in both football (2022) and baseball (2024) with Shanley High School—victories he shared with Meier.
As Meier continues his recovery at Craig Hospital in Colorado, Ovsak keeps his friend close in thought, channeling that connection into his performance on the field.
