Alumni Derek Berning Honored with Prestigious DAISY Award

Celebrating the successes of our alumni is one of the greatest joys we have—and today, we’re thrilled to spotlight an exceptional achievement. One of our own, Derek Berning, has been recognized with the distinguished DAISY Award, honoring his extraordinary compassion and dedication to patient care.

We are so proud to celebrate one of our very own alumni, Derek Berning, who was recently honored with the prestigious DAISY Award at his place of employment in Louisiana! Derek graduated from our Associate Degree nursing program in May 2021 and has clearly been making a tremendous impact in the lives of his patients and their families ever since.

The DAISY Award is one of the most competitive and highly regarded honors in the nursing profession, recognizing nurses who go above and beyond — not only in clinical excellence, but in the compassion and kindness they bring to patient care every single day. Recipients are nominated by patients, families, and co-workers, making this recognition especially meaningful.

Derek's dedication to his patients is a shining reflection of the values we work hard to instill in every student who walks through our doors. It's a special joy when excellence runs close to home, Derek is the son of our very own Brad Berning from the Facilities team. We couldn't be more proud to call him one of our graduates!
