During spring break on Thursday, March 12, the Alexandria College Welding Program had the privilege of hosting an AWS Stainless Steel Welding Seminar, bringing industry expertise directly to campus. Twenty‑five professionals and community members attended the event, representing a strong cross‑section of the region’s manufacturing and fabrication workforce.
The program was honored to welcome guest presenter Mark Hren from Lincoln Electric. A Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS), and experienced application engineer, Hren delivered an engaging and highly informative session. His presentation covered essential stainless steel welding principles, best practices, and real-world applications providing attendees with valuable insights they can take back to their workplaces.
Representatives from several regional companies participated in the seminar, including Dahmes Stainless Steel, Superior/Westmor Industries, nVent, and Twin City Fan. Their presence highlighted the strong collaboration between Alexandria College and local employers who rely on skilled welders and advanced training opportunities.
The Welding Program looks forward to continuing to host hands‑on workshops, professional development events, and industry partnerships that support both students and the broader manufacturing community.
