President Seymour Nominated to HLC Institutional Action Council (IAC)

President Michael Seymour has been appointed to the Higher Learning Commission’s Institutional Actions Council, a national body recognizing leaders who shape higher education. His four‑year term begins September 1, 2026, marking another notable example of how campus leaders contribute their expertise beyond the college and bring valuable insight back to our community.

President Michael Seymour was nominated to serve on the Higher Learning Commission’s Institutional Actions Council (IAC). The IAC is comprised of approximately 130 institutional and public members from across HLC’s 19 state region. At its February 2026 meeting, HLC’s Board of Trustees appointed nominees prepared by HLC staff. Congratulations to President Seymour. The Board of Trustees of the Higher Learning Commission approved his appointment to its Institutional Action Council (IAC) for a four-year term, beginning September 1, 2026. Chancellor Scott Olsen shared “Congratulations! Quite a vote of confidence in your contribution to higher education.”

President Seymour is currently finishing out his appointment to Minnesota State’s Executive Leadership Council. In this role, he was elected by the 2-year college presidents as one of two presidents to be the voice of the colleges at the system level. This appointment ends June 30, 2026. He is also an active member of the University of Minnesota’s Innovation Minnesota Consortium.

College employees are involved in a number of external activities contributing to the greater good. Campus administrators participate in a variety of professional development and community/industry groups.
