GenCyber LogoThe Alexandria GenCyber Cybersecurity Academy is a 5-day residential camp for students entering grades 9-12. Pending a 2020 GenCyber grant award, it will be held July 20-14, 2020 at the ATCC campus. The academy is funded through a grant from the National Security Agency and National Science Foundation, making it free of charge for 30 participants.

Experienced high school and college faculty will lead students through lessons and hands-on cybersecurity activities from 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. daily. Evening activities will include scavenger hunts, games, and an escape room. The program will focus on the Cybersecurity Concepts and cover a number of topics including:

  • Cybersecurity introduction and online safety
  • Hardware, operating systems, and programming
  • Networking, cryptography, and securing data
  • Ethical hacking
  • Computer careers and concepts review
