Suicide Prevention Training for Students & Employees

Sep 7, 2023 | 11:23 AM
A representative from the National Alliance on Mental Illness Minnesota (NAMI MN) will be on campus in room 209 on September 12, 2023, to present Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training. There will be two sessions, the first one at 12-1:30 p.m. and the second 5:30-7:00 p.m. This is a free workshop open to all Students and Employees.

Learn the three steps anyone can take to help prevent suicide. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR is the most widely taught gatekeeper training program in the United States, and more than one million adults have been trained in classroom settings in 48 states. This 1.5-hour class is for individuals over the age of 16 who want to learn best practices in suicide prevention. A certificate of attendance is available for this class and will be sent after you fill out the evaluation.

If you or someone you love is struggling, please know you don't have to face it alone. There is hope. Call or text 988 to talk to a person who cares and can help.  The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides free and confidential support for people in crisis or emotional distress.

For on-campus assistance, please call the Counseling Center at 320-762-4958.
