PROCEDURES

Chalking buildings and sidewalks is only permitted to promote campus events and activities. Chalking is only permitted by recognized student clubs and college departments.

Chalking is prohibited at the main entrance (Welcome Center, Door C).

All other outside areas on campus are approved for chalking subject to the following rules (exceptions to these rules must be submitted in writing to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs):

  1. Chalking is allowed on flat, horizontal surfaces (pedestrian sidewalks/walkways) and must be fully exposed so that rain can wash it away.
  2. Chalking is NOT permitted on any vertical surface which includes buildings, steps, signs, walls, statues, benches, etc.
  3. Chalking must be at least 30 feet away from the entrance to any building and is NOT permitted on exposed aggregate or pavers.
  4. Chalking must adhere to all college policies and procedures such as Nondiscrimination and Student Conduct.
  5. Only water-soluble chalk may be used. Paint (latex or oil-based), spray/adhesive chalks, markers, inks or similar products are not permitted.
  6. Club leaders are responsible for removal of chalk following their event or activity. If it rains and it is gone, that will suffice for removal.
  7. Chalking may occur up to three days prior to the scheduled event.
