Jason Surface has spent more than two decades behind the wheel, and has logged more than 3,000,000 accident-free miles. He pulled a variety of freight as a company driver and as an owner-operator from 1998 to 2015 including flatbed, tanker, lowboy, and dry van in the lower 48 states and Canada.

Jason was named Truck Driving Program Director at Hibbing Community College in 2015 and joined the team at ATCC in 2020.

In his free time, Jason enjoys spending time with his son, and dirt track sprint car racing.

Tom Weller

Professional Truck Driver Instructor

Tom Weller has logged approximately 500k miles in 4 years of driving tractor trailer. He got his start at a local company in Osakis, Minnesota, where he transported a variety of freight, mostly refrigerated food grade products, as well as dry freight, to and from distribution centers, warehouses, and processors. As a local driver, he covered Minnesota and all of the surrounding states, dropping and hooking up to 30 trailers per week.

Tom graduated the Professional Truck Driver program at Alexandria College, in fall 2017, where he received the Outstanding Student award and was named on the Dean’s list. He became part of the program’s advisory committee and was added to the substitute teacher roster.

In his free time, Tom enjoys hosting and administering gaming servers, NHRA drag racing, and spending time with his family and his two dogs Ruby & Angus.
