The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that more than 200,000 men and women transition from military to civilian life each year. Yet for many this transition presents a formidable challenge. Despite extensive training and expertise gained through service, many face barriers when seeking to translate skills and education gained in the military into academic credentials and, ultimately, career opportunities.

With Peace officers in high demand, Gov. Tim Walz announced on June 5, 2024, that 35 agencies across Minnesota will receive funding for the new Intensive Comprehensive Peace Officer Education and Training (ICPOET) Grant Program. The selected agency receiving the grant will sponsor 50 candidates with two- and four-year degrees who want to transition into a career in law enforcement.

As of May 17, 2025, the Department of Education has indicated they will continue to send small batches of FAFSAs to schools and will gradually increase the volume over a series of weeks. ATCC currently anticipates being able to process FAFSA data beginning late May.
