Students from Alexandria Technical and Community College competed in the 2025 SkillsUSA Minnesota State Championships and claimed 28 first place, 20 second place, and 16 third place spots with 19 students advancing to the national competition in Atlanta, Georgia, June 23-28, 2025.

Teams first came on Tuesday, January 28 to the NFPA Fluid Power Workshop to learn some basic on pneumatics and how fluid power works. They assembled a rotating platform and a lifter. From the workshop, they went back to their schools and over the following 7 weeks designed and made their machine prototype.

The Q&A highlights Alexandria Technical & Community College's significant impact on the Alexandria Lakes area, including partnerships with community and industry leaders to provide real-world experiences for students, the college's role in training high school instructors, and its involvement in community events like the annual Diversity Fest. Additionally, it highlights initiatives like the RAISE program and the Next Generation Nursing Assistant program, which offered free courses to eligible residents. Challenges are also addressed, such as the upcoming "enrollment cliff" and public scrutiny of the return on investment of college education. ATCC students earned 44 finalist honors and brought home eight first place awards, eight second place awards, and three third place awards. Mackenzie Andreasen, Eli Biggers, and Michael Cochran were awarded Outstanding Student Service Awards, and Andreasen was elected State Vice President for Minnesota Collegiate DECA. Karen Meuwissen was awarded Minnesota Collegiate DECA Advisor of the Year.
